Default question?

If the machine shop changed pistons on the rods, and after 2 weeks of driving the pin slides out and ruins the cylinder wall how liable is the machine shop?

Ouch! You are between a rock and the old hard place. A reputable shop should stand behind it. Did they sell you the pistons? The pins, obviously should not slide around. They are pressed in with a hydraulic press and they should have noticed if too loose. Did your pistons have clips to hold the pins in place? If so, maybe they thought you would install them aferwards? If it ruined your block, they may not be too excited to be responsible for damages. Best thing to do is ask as nicely as possible and pray for the best. If they act like jerks, then offer to spread your story around town. Their reputation is worth more money than your engine.

between a rock and that hard place is where I live, I bought the .060 pistons on e-bay it was a deal I couldn't pass up even though I was still working with standard bore size. These were pressed on pistons so no clips, the guy doing the work said he'd look out for me and ordered a sleeve and new rod, we'll see how it turns out! I've owned this vette for 6 months and have had the engine out 3 times, Ive got very personale with this L-98, know him real good!
