Hey Guys, I've downloaded all the tutorial articles on how to lower a C-4,but one question; I have noticed that some of your C-4's sit lower in the front than others. I understand by using a longer Bolt in the rear, but the front? Do some kits offer different drop inches for the front, or? I plan on slamming my 84 C-4...THX!
It depends how much rubber you cut off of the spring, whether or not you put the aluminum spacers back in, and also you can cut the rubber spring perches on each end of the spring to get an even lower look. It's not easily adjustable like the rear, but you can achieve any ride height you want if you're willing to disassemble the front suspension a couple of times.
You can put bolts in the front spring to make it adjust, there was just a large thread in gen on this. I think you could use this to corner weigh the car as well without using expensive adjustable sway bar joints.
I know every year had different settings from the factory. I think they got higher all the way to 96. Yes, some of the tire aspect ratios are different, but the cars do have different amount of rubber on the ends of the springs (front end tips that go into control arms), especially after seeing many write ups here with pics.
PLRX, Myself and a few others have shown many pictures of lowering.
Mine is simple. I cut off all the front springs rubber and put the "wedge" you get from all the kits, with no aluminum spacer. Then I cut the end pieces off (well they were off to begin with) and put 3/8 inch DELRIN on the tips. And with 275/40 ZR17's up front, mine sits at 25.5.
