Default Underhood Lights

I put the hood up on my '93 and the lights do not come on. Is there a switch or a fuse somewhere? Also, the light on the vanity mirrors, when they are switched on are they supposed to shut off with the ignition. My wife turned the passenger side light on and forgot to switch it off, before putting the visor back up. Thanks for the info

Check to see if hte hood lights are plugged in. Lots of people unplug these for when they are working under the hood. They are mercury switches.

As for the visor, it should shut off when the ignition is off so that it doesn't kill your battery. Mine does.

the hood lites are supposed to be run by a mercury switch. you may have a cut wire or blown bulbs

the prior owner may have installed a hood lite kill switch... check for such a beasty. I don't know where they are supposed to hide.

I don't know what to say about the visor lites... mine go off with the key...

Thanks guys, I'll look for the connector tonight. I'm sure someone probably diconnected it while working on the car. I will also double check the visor lights, I can't wait for my owners manual to get here, so I dont feel like a :conehead asking these questions.

Don't know if was covered, but the fuse for your UH/lights is on the back of the left cornering light, across from your airpump.........

No air pump on LT1's. Didn't need it. Anyway, check the fuses for the UHlights. The vanity lights in my 93 go off with the key so no worries there. If you remove the glass light covers to check the bulbs, make sure you don't torque them down excessively because they will break. Trust me... :smash:

Thanks, I'll check the fuse and the bulbs. I thought I read somewhere the LT1's used an electric air pump to pump air to the catalytic converter for emissions? I could be wrong, I read so many car books and mags.
Thanks for the info.

There is an air pump -- it's just an electric one. It's located down by the charcoal canister underneith the driver-side headlamp.

There is a connector on each light down below the light.

On a 93 theree is a fuse for the underhood lights. It,s located near the air pumy in the lower front section. I took the fust out of the holder on mine and got a toggle switch that pluged in in place of the fuse made a really cheap way to turn the hood lights off and on, the switch is hidden where you can't see it works great

I would like to install a kill switch for when I am working on the car or at shows.

Can someone provide directions for how best to do this?

Thanks!!
