Exhaust Q's

So how hard is it to install Longtube Headers, and how much have you all paid for a complete exhaust from the headers back, fyi i have the mufflers already...

*This is for a 1986 L98 Corvette*

I thought it was pretty easy. I paid $450 for 2.5" duals with an H pipe and mufflers all installed. The Hooker aero chamber mufflers were $100 from Summit. I probably would have paid $50-100 less for the exhaust work but I needed new collectors welded on so there was extra work to do.

ok cool thank you... did you use a lift for the headers? or did you use ramps?

It will be easier the higher up it is. 3 ton jackstands will give you more height than ramps IMHO.

ok cool i have both

so that works... um great news i stoped by my local exhaust shop and he quoted me $220 for header back 2.5 in dual exhaust and an H pipe... woohoo not bad eh?

Sounds pretty good! I had to pay extra to weld collectors on and then weld in flanges so it can be disconnected easy for engine work.

the headers have flanges but im going to buy some collectors so he can easily get started on the exhaust work... so how many hr's did it take for the header install

I didn't keep track of time, it went fast though. The biggest PITA I thought was removing the dip stick. I think I did a write up thread if you search.

I jack the car up and put cement blocks under each wheel and keep the jack under the car for backup.

I think I paid $800 for my headers. LPE ss

muffler eliminatiors from mid-america so around 1K
