Just wondering if anyone has sent their PCM to Ed Wright for programming. Would like to know if their was any apparent improvement in engine performance?
After a batch of major mods on my Z28 (heads, huge cam, and intake) I had to have a custom chip made. Ed made it for me. After installing it and adjusting a few things (fuel pressure, idle), my car runs mid 12s @ 112 MPH and idles perfect. It has a nice lope but doesn't surge or die ever.
I had mine done after heads, cam, intake, and TB. I gained alot from the chip but that was expected. I don't know about his chips for stock engines. Ed Wright has done quite a few of them and that was the main reason I sent mine there.
I've added mods and used Ed's chip. It's been over a year and I'm very happy with the results. I had the top end done and the chip replaced at the same time so It's difficult to determine what kind of gains were obtained from the chip alone.
Hank
$350.00 for mine, tailored to my mods. Chip works a lot better then the old Hyperchip Ed's replaced. Fan turns on now like it should also.
IMO it was well worth the $$$, at least for me. :flag
I'm going to get mine dyno tuned by him in March. The forum member, gears, got 12rwhp out of his. Ed says between 12-15 for LT1s. I'm doing mine mainly to get the engine running cooler, but the extra hp is a plus. I would rather spend the money on his than a hypertech.
Ed did the pcm for my 99 Trans Am (heads and cam) also did a complicated program for a heads cam LS1 for my 1984 Vette. Thats right , I said 1984 :)
I highly recomend.
I used his for my 95 that I did head work, cam, exhaust and such. After re-hooking up the computer after he did it, the car fired right up, drove perfect, and ran a 12.3 first run. 12.5 on street tires. I'd recomend him. However, for the work I'm doing to the GS I want a Dyno tune done so I will be going to Cartek for this. I'd rather a dyno tune to actually get everything perfect, not close like a mail order might be.

Hey Rich,
I am not sure of this, but I read somewhere else on this forum that Cartek collects wideband info on the dyno, sends the data to Ed Wright, and then Ed supplies the custom programming.
Just something for you to look into. I for one, am curious.
