i just bought a corsa cat back for my 90. no real C4 experience, but i have corsa on my 08 and had corsa on my Y2K coupe. from my understanding, and from most other forum corsa owners, corsa doesn't have the resonance or drone like other C4 systems, but it does cost a bit more. the overall quality of corsa is excellent. it just came yesterday, so it's pretty much still in boxes. for my 90, i bought a magnaflow front y-pipe, and free-flow main cat to go along with the corsa cat back. if you go corsa for your 87, check out the price at JEGS - $750 shipped

Awesome Joe, 750 bucks not bad I'm hoping they even drop some more.
Don't be shy to post a video when you got them installed

I just checked Jegs. The cheapest corsa cat-back for a C4 was $1,100. They don't sell 86-91 years. The cheapest I've found an 86 corsa system was $900 at MidAmerica. I'm also looking at the direct fit magnaflow cat ($175) and front Y pipe ($200) to complete the system.

+ there was a $13 (approx) handling fee, but free shipping. my total bill was $750 & change...

i got the magnaflow cat from summit racing. i think the price was $134 and i had a $20 off coupon - so it ended up at $114...

Thanks joe for the link.I have borla now but the lt1 tips rattled off.
Is there and reason everybody is picking corsa over magnaflow is it look or sound or resonance. My car is a weekend toy with a stroker motor so its pretty loud. any thoughts on the sound of both which one is louder?

mitch -

my guess is most are choosing corsa for the noise resonance factor, or lack of. you would have to hear the corsa next to the magnaflow for sound, but i'm guessing the magnaflows may sound a little more aggressive - but, i really don't know. i do know that the corsas are more toned down during cruise, but come to life during acceleration and WOT, and from what i'm reading on the forum, do not have the cruising RPM resonance or drone. i have magnaflow components, and the corsa cat back, and the overall quality seems fairly equal. i've had several aftermarket systems on my 85, and i can tell you that the mid range resonance and drone was very annoying - annoying to the point that i went back to stock pipes -

if your 87 is more of a weekend racer, the magnaflows may suit your needs. for me, my 90 is a DD, and it's nothing for me to take a 2 hour cruise down the interstate for lunch. the last thing i want is ear piercing noise at 1800 RPM.

as soon as i get a new O2 sensor, a 3" s/s muffler clamp (off to summit racing this afternoon), and get off my lazy a$$, i'll install the new magnaflow pipes and converter, and the corsa cat back. hopefully, i can post a video...

Magnaflow sounds better but you have to live with the drone at certain rpm's. Corsa less agressive sound but no drone. The drone can be a problem on trips more than an hour....G

If you want to do it only once, get the Corsa's.

Otherwise, you'll be back starting a new thread titled "How to reduce exhaust Drone" and 90% of the responses will be, "install the Corsa's". Also, headers will amplify the exhaust sound on any muffler.

I still don't understand this forum's apparent hatred for Flowmaster. I've had them on my 92 with an x-pipe in place of the resonator for a few years now and have been very happy with the sound and added performance.

But to each his own. If you're set on either magnaflow or corsa, have at it.

I have true dual exhaust system from CC, and Flowmaster 50 Series mufflers. I love the sound, and I have no resonance.

Since you're planning on a 3" system, you may want to check out the Magnaflow part number 16837 LTX cat-back and adapt it to your long-tubes.

Look it up at performance peddler and try the discount code: bestoffer4em at checkout.

My Magnaflows with true duals, bullet cats..resonators..and stock manifolds are LOUD! and they have a horrible 2000 to 2500 rpm drone..it almost drives you insane driving at 40 mph
