Default Edelbrock Victor Junior Heads

Edelbrock Victor Junior Heads? anyone using them?

I was thinking of buying these heads myself as an upgrade on my stock L98 alloy heads.

Are they a good head to use? for weekend street and occaissional strip use.

Cam I would like to use is the XR282HR or XR288HR comp cam.

Edelbrock don't list a 58cc chamber so you would be in the same situation as OP

Cheers. The heads in question were 64cc not the 70cc, so I would need to have the 64cc milled 0.042 then to achieve the 58cc combustion chamber.
I can get these heads for $1900 including shipping and taxes to my door but they only come bare or with valves.

Any other suggestions on a good head and cam setup. I want to be looking at 400-500 flywheel hp on a non charged engine.

I will be loosing the TPI and getting an LT1 manifold which is already drilled for the distributor hole and external coolant ports.

I will be using full length headers and short plugs too.

Andy

In my experience Edelbrock makes great performance products as long as you avoid their carburetors like the plague! You can call their tech line and they will help you find a combination that makes the most power for your set up and intended use.

I heard that before! Thats why I made sure I ordered a Holley carb for my 3rd gen transam when I removed the TPI off that.

If they are uploaded to photobucket the only other thing I can think of is be sure they are saved as a .JPEG or .JPG Somewhere on the site there is a tutorial for image uploads and inserts.

Sorry for the hijack, I have had good luck with the one on my other car. What troubles have you had? My Eldebrock worked right out of the box.

weeeellll although I think higher of you than a lot of these bolt on bonehead types, them working out of the box is kinda my issue. If you pour enough fuel in an engine it's gonna start. They have a very poor power curve, and tend to wander on their settings both short term from heat and long term from wear.

I have just encountered many many of them on peoples vehicles that they complain of mileage and fouling or rich running. Most of this is due to the fact that the car started with it out of the box and their lack of tuning. Once I did get them set up and proper they would almost without fail report that it was great for a few months an then started with other issues.

Personally I don't think that Edelbrock makes them anymore. It would stand to reason that they outsourced their Carter style carbs and they have gone downhill ever since.
