Default clutch fork hitting pressure plate

i replaced my engine, put a new 6spd in as well and a clutch from carolinaclutch. we get everything installed and started her up (which i have to say, she sounds sexy now) but when i engaged the clutch, i could hear, and blatantly feel metal to metal grinding. and also when engaged, the engine would bog down til it died. so we pulled the tranny back out, and find out the clutch fork is rubbing the pressure plate. we couldnt think of anything else to do but shave the fork down where it hits. we put putty on the fork and installed the bellhousing, pushed the clutch in all the way. removed and shaved, and repeated that until the fork didnt hit at all. we got about .07-.08 clearance now. all in all, taking about 3/16" off the area that was hitting. and where the removed area is, it does not look like it will effect the durability of the fork. my question is.... will it effect the durability? i probably should've asked before hand. but its too late now. but more importantly, has anyone had that problem before?

Yes. You probably just need to tighten the ball stud up where the fork pivots on the bellhousing. I've had it lock the engine up it was so loose...

I would remove and install loc-tite as well. I have had to remove the whole thing twice because the first time I didn't install the loc-tite.......

Yeah, me too.
Had to grind the fork down just a bit.
I welded on a backing plate.
Probably overkill.

I had the same problems when I converted to a ZF 6sp. It was the wrong ball stud and I had to grind the fork down just a bit too.
