I need some help with the PKE system. MY fob can open the doors, but can't lock them. Does the fob work, does it need to be programmed, is it capable of being programmed?
Do you understand how the Corvette PKE system works?
Unlike other systems, the Fob buttons do not lock the doors.
When the system is turned on, the doors will lock automatically as you walk away from the car and then unlock as you approach.
You can hold the door lock button down for several seconds while standing next to the drivers door to turn the system on or off.
If this is a new fob you've got, then yes it probably needs to be programed.
If you need directions for that, it's in the owners manual. If you don't have one, I can post them if needed.
Of course, it's still possible it's not working correctly.
I've got a 94 LT1. and I've seen all kinds of stuff about how the PKE doesn't work good. All the info you need is in the owner's manual or the FSM, or included with the new fob you buy.
the main thing I've found is "the damn battery goes bad before it goes dead". That ain't listed anywhere in the directions. the fob does NOT lock the doors, the abesence of it's signal does. 1st thang-change the battery in the fob. go from there.
