1988 L98 43,000mi I have had a problem with it taking a while to start when it is cold. Once warm starts right up, if it sits for more than an hour it takes a while to start again. could be injectors leaking but before I spend the $$ I would like to know if there is a way to check if the fuel pump is bleading the pressure off instead of leaking injectors. and is there a possibility that the cold start switch could cause this and if so a way to chech it?? :smash:
had the same problem, check that the fuel pump is turning on for a second or two when you first turn the key to the on position, have someone listen for this by the gas fill.If it does not turn on, the fuel pump relay is bad. It is located on the fire wall on the drivers side of the distributor. cost about $10
Your '88 also has a 9th fuel injector called a Cold Start Injector. It is used to inject more fuel when the car is cold. Perhaps this baby is going? Everyone else is giving good info also.
I just did some checking. I can here the fuel pump pressurizing when the ignition is first turned on, if I turn it off and right back on it doesen't pressurize(don't know if it's even supposed to), but if I wait a few minutes and try again I can hear it turning again. Does this eliminate the fuel pump relay? and is there a way to see if it is the cold start injector. also has anyone herd of the fuel pump itself bleeding the pressure off?? I am greatful for your guys' help! I'm open for suggestions even if it's have a cold beer and tell my mechanic to put new injectors in :)
