i have looked but i can`t find any info on the double rear calipers
i want to put my j55 front calipers also on the rear but i need a conversion braket of some sort
because i have the c5 z06 upgrade on the front:
can somebody give me some info please?
thanks jeff.
I don't know anything about this mod, but it sounds pointless to me. The stock C4 rear brakes are more than adequite for anything you will likely be doing; only 30% of the braking is done by the rear, hence the smaller rotors and calipers.
The decreased rotor surface area will diminish the cooling the rear brakes will receive, not to mention you will need a new master cylinder and proportioning valve(and figuring out the right ones!) due to the drastically different fluid displacement and bias. This is quite an engineering project.
The decreased rotor surface area will diminish the cooling the rear brakes will receive, .........
When I first saw the double caliper setup for the front of a C4, I thought the "shrouding" of the rotor would cause less cooling.
That's the advantage of disc brakes over drum brakes -- the surface that sees the heat generation is directly exposed to cooling air when it isn't under the caliper housling.
The more time, percentage-wise, that the rotor is exposed to cooling air outside the caliper housing the quicker the rotor cools.
Double calipers exhibit better braking for one stop in a series of quick stops.
Bad idea, really bad idea. First of all, all slid rail calipers suck. They spread, the pads are thin and the pads get lots of taper. As they spread, the pedal travel gets longer with no more force, just pad taper. And as mentioned above posts, the cooling suffers, and the pedal travel is horrible due to all the fluid displaced. My friend with a '91 tried this and it was terrible (I drove it), the pedal was way too soft. He finally went with a 4 piston Alcon system and it is infinitely better.

Would need to run the J55 13" rotor also as it is 28mm thick v std Vette rear @ 20mm thick.
If you really want a dual piston caliper at rear would be easier to use std
JL9 12" front caliper with custom adapter.

ok thanks
but now i need an adapter bracket does anybody know where or how?
