Default differences between 84 & 94 ?

Will the running gear, complete front & rear suspension, engine and 6sp transmission, bolt onto a 84 chassis? Are there any major differences in the chassis? Will the LT1 fit under the 84 hood?

Shouldn't have any problems bolting it up, you may have to search awhile to find the 6spd console though as it was only made in 89 for the 84-89 interiors.

And you need all the engine wiring as ECM as well.

I have the complete 94 with 52k on the odometer. It is totaled. The running gear and interior are in good condition. I figure I can pick up a 84 cheap and restore it using parts off of the 94. I am just not sure what kind of problems I might run into with parts fitting.

I think you can transplant all the suspension stuff. You will have to replace the entire suspension though, as it changed in 88.

Sounds like a great swap project. Wiring will take some patience and there may be some little issues bolting up you accessories that have to be thought out when your in there but it will all fit. It is a little pricey but both shop manuals will make it easier to deal with the differences in plumbing, accessories, AND wiring.

I like the early body style so this will be a very cool project. Keep us posted on this one and good luck

The frames are different on the later cars, especially the LT1 cars. The frame bows out a little different to clear the cat, and the whole front suspension / shock mounts/ etc should be different after '88. You won't get LT1 cats to bolt up, trust me I tried on my '87. Would have to go with aftermarket down pipes.

The 4+3 console works with the 6spd, just says it's something that it is not.

Default bass ackwards (as usual)

have a 94 frame here with an 85 front suspension under it...would have bolted up but we moved the cradle ahead 1.25" (convenient as a couple of existing bolt holes line up the move) to make room for a rat motor...diagonal bolt-on braces below the engine from cradle to frame sides will need mods...shock towers are slightly different (early shocks look very close if going your way, we're using custom "inverted" shocks so can't be sure)...early brake plumbing is much simpler (no ABS) so new brake tube mounting screw holes will be a moments hassle.
