Hey guys. Just bought a 1990 vette, and just starting to get informed. My brother just so happened to have a car and driver from 1990 and 91. Apparently in 1990 they used a shorter rear end gear and it hurt the performance of the car and even limited the top speed, then when back to a taller gear in 91. Any of you heard of this? Is the gear used in 91 a good all around ratio for perfomace and daily use, or would you recommend something else
thanks
these are the gears in a 84-91 and the code will tell you what you have. no change based on year just rpo build
auto 2.59, 2.73,3.07 3.07 "performance gear"
stick 3.07 84-88 4+3 trans
stick ??? 89 + 6speed trans
maybe 3.31, 3.42. 3.45. 3.54 I (think) those are some of the gears, again your vin or your code will tell you

As far as I am aware
all C4 A4 got 2.59 with 3.07 as the "performance " option.
Verts were 2.73
4+3 had 3.07
ZF6 came with 3.45 or 3.54
In some early cars there are 3.31
