I was considering buying a '94 and talked with the owner over the phone and he was very helpful and forward with all information. The car is about 700 miles away so I could not test drive it. After talking to him I had some unexpected financial issues surface which has set me back from making any decisions. It was a beautiful Corvette too.....oh well......However, looking ahead, I have not given up in my pursuit of someday owning a corvette, and I am targeting the 94-96 years.....thus the following question to the forum........
There was a noise in the drive train which for whatever reason could not be resolved. Initially he thought it was a throw-out bearing and had the clutch, pressure plate, etc replaced. He had it done at a shop and I assume put a lot of money into fixing the problem; however, the noise did not go away. Ouch! He took the car back to the shop and they applied grease to the shaft (I assume the spline going into the engine) and the noise reduced significantly. I do not remember him saying that he felt any vibration. My experiences with drive train noise and/or vibration is that they can be difficult to isolate and many times just inherent in older cars.
So, anyway the question is has anyone have similar experiences with the '94? Any recommendations? Most years of cars have their own unique 'personalities' such as noise/vibration, leaks, rattles, etc. Was this type of drive train noise common with the '94?
I had a small vibration in my '94 that turned out to be the half-shaft u-joints.
I replaced all of them, and voi'la, no more vibration.
Thanks.....I was thinking abuot the u-joints but never asked the owner.....I would hope the shop that did all the work would have looked at the u-joint before replacing entire clutch system.....
