The car warms up, but the heater doesn't, at least not fully. I tried cycling the valve by cyling the comfort control system full cool to full heat, back and forth, didn't seem to improve.
Has anyone else had this issue, or know of a typical problem? The car gets driven about every other weekend, and the occaisional long trip out of town.
Need more info, is it electric or manual controls?
Is there air coming from the vents?
And if so, which vents?
It's a climate control unit. And the vent controls seem to be working properly. It's just not blowing hot. The temp does change some when I cycle the thermostat from 60F to 85F, but it's definately not going to full heat. I believe the hot water valve is not opening fully, I just don't know if it's the controls, or the valve itself.
LT1 heater cores don't flow all that much volume to begin with, and can get blocked by silt over time.
FIX: Pop the handiest hose off of each side of the heater core (inlet and outlet) and blast garden-hose water through back and forth from both directions until water runs more or less clear (mine took about 10+ back-and-forth flushings). This is free and easy and might fix you up--it fixed mine.
I've got the same problem & the garden hose routine didn't work for me (rats!). I'm convinced that my '92 has a clogged heater and the coolant's bypassing the heater.(That's why you only get a weak amount of heat.) Since I only drive it in summer months and since I dread the thought of tearing apart 1/2 the dash to re/re the heater core (even though I have another) I'm seriously thinking of bypassing the heater core altogether. I'd leave it as it is, but I'm afraid that (eventually) it'll form a leak and will empty itself all over the inside of my (pristine) interior - and probably when it's all buttoned-up for winter when I won't notice it for quite some time! Has anyone else bypassed theirs? What was your experience?
