Power Steering Rack rebuild
I've got the dreaded morning sickness in my Z52 89.
I'm pretty well aware of the usual suspects in getting a rebuild ($150 + core), but sitting in the same garage with the vette is a nice small machine shop.
I remember something about changing the materials used from stock (aluminum?) to (bronze?) but I don't know the specifics in the rest if the rebuild.
I'm tempted to try the project myself, but obivously don't have any hands-on experience, does anyone know the details in the rebuild?
I can turn pretty much anything less than 10" in diameter and 32" long, and keep tolerances to about 0.001"
If the bore of the rack needs to be honed, I'd most likely send that out.

I thought that I saw a procedure in the FSM for the rebuild but can't say for sure. I have to admit that I would just buy a reman unit off the fleabay but do understand your desire to DIY.
