It turns out that my new to me Corvette has a bad clutch and flywheel. Should the throwout bearing be replaced also?? Or anything else while the transmission is out? That seems to be the cause of the 3K to 4K RPM vibration in the car.

Chris:
My experience with this is replace EVERYTHING. Pressure plate, Clutch Plate, Throw out bearing, Flywheel, and Rear Main Seal.
To remove the flywheel you are already paying the labor dollars for everything else except for rear main seal.......however, the rear main seal probably cost less than $50......
Get two sets of 6-ton jackstands and all can be done in your garage.
The clutch kit comes with all components, yes all should be change.
The main seal it's easy to replace.
This is a great time to install a Hurst or B&M shifter
Use Castrol TWS, buy it at your local BMW dealer and let us know about the employee's face expression when you tell him that the oil is for a Vette.
...Once you start to lower the rear of the engine, keep an eye on the fuel shut off sensors behind the air intake. A 2 ton jackstand with a 2X4 under the oil pan worked great to keep the engine "on place"
I recommend you take someone else's car for a test drive before you decide to add an aftermarket clutch or shifter. They are very different from stock in how they feel.
I live in McKinney and I'm in Frisco often if you want to see what a Spec IV racing clutch and B&M shifter feel like !!!
Send me a PM with your number and we can touch base.
