At what point or Hp level is a fuel pump be upgraded? Im going with the 255 unless someone has any suggestions? I have a 1996 lt1 auto. Im putting in Full Longtube exhaust with LE2 package. Im holding off on the cam til it gets alittle warmer. Im installing everything in my garage minus cam. I know after the cam I need a tune no matter what and fuel will be affected greatly. I have every part from intake to exhaust. Except for fuel so Im thinking 30 or 36 injectors ,255 pump, and afpr. So can I run on a stock pump til it gets warmer with everything on except cam?
I know I should just do the pump and cam, just call it a day but its cold laying on concrete in winter. Cut me some slack.
No expert here but unless you are puting on some other mods like a bigger TB and heads that flow a lot better 255 is plenty.
I have ran as much as 550 HP on my 383 LT 4 with Aeromotive 250 with 42.5 lb injectors and a 1,000 CFM TB running 46 lb's pressure and had to limit the spray time.
If you intend on further mods [ who doesn't want more ] your fuel regulator will take care if the extra fuel but unless you get it tuned too big injectors will hurt you all the way around.
I have a Gen 7 Accel programable computer tuneable by laptop so I can get by with more.
Stock heads and smaller TB you might check on those injectors and see if you need them.

I ran the stock fuel pump and I was over 360hp at the wheels, so a bit over 400 at the crank.
The fuel pump is changed from above, no need to lay on concrete for that...and it takes less than an hour.
My goal along with LE package, I talked with them, is close to 400rwhp. I have 58mm TB, Ported lt1 Intake (Matched), Full Exhaust, I have all the supporting mods to get me there. I just was wondering about the stock fuel pump, if it could hold up.
But When I blow up the stock bottom end I will need a decent pump cause Im going to get a custom cam and 383 forged block and think about some procharge it. But thats down the road. I just want a decent pump for now that can feed 450-500 chp.
