Default 89 vette vs 89 camaro

What is the difference between an 89 corvette stock engine, and an 89 camaro with a 350 tune port injection, as far as power? I need a new engine for my car and was wanting to see what the difference is as far as power? Theyre basically the same, as far as I know.

Camaro has iron heads. C4 has alluminum heads. Not a big difference.

I think if you are pulling an engine, please please put in something that you will like, a stock tpi is not ideal unless you are trying to restore the car for some crazy reason. It might take longer to find one, but there are deals going on every where for this stuff.

I have looked and cant find a tune port injection engine anywhere, that is affordable. If you have any recomendations on a good engine upgrade for my car that isnt outrageously expensive, let me know please . . .

Also I know ive asked this before but nobody ever gave me a really clear answer, but was wandering if this engine http://www.jegs.com/i/GM+Performance...353K1/10002/-1 will work with my car. Has anybody used this engine, or an engine like this one?

The L-98 isn't a bad engine. Do a search on Ebay for L-98 sometimes they come up reasonably. I would look at the ZZ4 crate motor. You don't need the "turn key" model, the stripped down version is less expensive. You may need to recycle your cam. Do a search for ZZ4 on here.

Also you could get a Vortec engine, which breathes pretty well. There's an adaptor intake that allows you to run TPI with the Vortec heads. Vortec 5.7's are also pretty cheap. I think a Vortec engine is going to need a different cam.

The '89 Camaro L98 was rated at 245chp while the '89 Vette L98 was rated at 250chp. The Camaro had a dual cat exhaust system while the Vette still had the single cat system, which restricted flow and power for the Vette.

The first thing you should know is that it's not a "TPI engine", it's a small block 350 with a TPI intake. You can go get your run of the mill gen I 350 and stick a TPI on it, so long as everything fits.

What I'd suggest you do is search to see if you can find a 383 longblock without heads/intake etc, or a 350 block and stroker kit seperately, then look for an aftermarket TPI intake. Port your old heads if possible.

This is assuming your old heads are still functional.. I don't know why your old motor took a crap on you, but I'm hoping it's not head gasket. Anyway, I think you'd be happier with a few more cubes to improve that grunt the TPI loves to make.

My 89 was rated at 250. There were two versions. I think it had to do with the exhaust mufflers. Both tips on each muffler were functional were the 245 only had one functional tip per muffler.

I think also check exhaust manifolds, engine pipes and cat back sys

Otherwise I think engines are identical. I believe hsp difference is in exhaust
