PKE diagnosis, can anyone help?

PKE diagnosis, can anyone help?
Hey guys, my PKE has gone south. Even with a new battery in the transmitter it still doesn't work. Shows PKE on the DIC, assuming the transmitter is still good shouldn't it enter programming mode like in the service manuals? I've followed the technique in the books and can't get it to go into program mode at all, does this mean that the receiver is bad? I dunno it seems that all the diagnostic charts in the manuals lead to the receiver being bad, anyone have any thoughts on this and if it is the receiver does anyone know the cost of a new one? Thanks all

I wonder if the "new" battery was really new. If you purchased from a dealer, it could have been sitting there for years. I'd order another new battery from a reliable source before I shelled out the dough for a new FOB.

do u have a buddy with a 93-96.....use there FOB....and program it to your vette.....that is another way to isolate.

Yeah the Helms service manual diagnosis. Thanks for the suggestion, I could probably get my hands on another fob but the problem is that I can't get the car to go into program mode by using the trip/odo buttons on the dash. Sometimes it shows PKE on the DIC when driving around but the PKE light never comes on when I try the prescribed method in the book, which leads me to think that the reciever may be bad. Any other thoughts/leads as to pinpointing it? Thanks again :cheers:
