How much power would I obtain by changing the roller rockers to 1.6 on a stock engine. The engine was just rebuilt. Also what rockers would i use and do i need to change the valve covers?
i dont know about the power you would obtain, but with the LT1 engine you can use the stock valve covers if you brake off some tabs. But if it was me i would just get new valve covers to be safe.

If the only mod you make are RR's you won't notice any better performance. You can use you stock valve covers by cutting off the drip tabs located on the inside of the covers.

I don't know for sure, but something like 15 hp should be obtained. After I changed RR's in my car, I thought that it would pull just slightly better, especially the high rpm's.
I used Scorpion's rockers and I did cut the drib tabs off. I also changed springs at the same time.
I did this mod a while ago. First; I did a search on the web and found a lot of info. I found dyno slips that showed about 10 to 15 hp gain with 1.6 RRs on an otherwise stock L98.
I installed a Comp Pro Magnum kit with new push rods. They're quieter than the stock stamped 1.5 RRs. You can use your stock valve covers with a little modification or you can buy the tall aftermarket valve covers.
Clearing the hood isnt the issue, clearing the other stuff in there is the bugger. Wiper motor might need to come out every time or even be repositioned, then theres the pain of some of the taller ones not letting you get to bolts.
You just re-use the stock cover, but you take a dremel to the guts inside so they'll clear. Sand and paint it and youre good to go.
They should provide between 10-15hp, which you wont feel, but it will show.
