Default Bolts broken in head

I have a 91 and the bolt that holds the rear A/c compressor brace to the exhaust maniflod.broke off in the head. Nothing is sticking out, can't use visegrips.Has anyone had this problem?

I am temporarly living in an apartment and really cannot pull the head off. I was thinking of using a right angle drill and easy out to get the busted off stud out. I do not want to pull the exhaust.

I could use some other suggestions.

Thanks all

The EZout is the best way to get that broken bolt out!

If you go to the hardware store, and get a steel bushing that will fit into the exhaust manifold bolt hole pretty snug, slide it in, and tap it flush with the head. then get a drill that will fit into the bushing but corresponds with an easy out big enough to take the stud out, you can use the angle drill, and then put a piece of masking tape on the drill bit a half inch away from the exhaust flange so you know how far you drilled, then drill it to the tape.
1. drill slowly. if you drill at full speed, you will just dull the drill.
2. use a tap or drill oil on the drill bit. keep it lubricated. it makes the cutting easier for the drill bit.
3. when the drill has gone in a half inch, remove the drill, remove the bushing, and insert the easy-out for that size drill.
4. slowly load the easy-out till you get a firm feel to it.
5.if you feel the easy-out beginning to twist, back it out, throw it away.
6. get a punch, and put it in the hole, smack it with the hammer.
7. use a new easy-out, and repeat.

remember, you are removing steel from an aluminum fixture. It may gall the threads as it backs out, and take all the aluminum threads with it.
In that case, you need to get an threaded insert to install in the hole, but you need to drill the hole to the proper size for the insert.
The insert is called a heli-coil.
The hardware stores and auto parts stores sell a kit with drill bit, installer, and inserts for anywhere from $15-$30.
