The guy who owned my Vette, 1991 L98 Auto coupe, before me removed the catalytic converter. (I just found out yesterday) and he just left the catalytic converter air injection pipe just hanging there next to the exh system, every once in awhile the service engine light (code 32, EGR circuit) will come on. Should the cat air inj pipe be stopped up with something, if anything I'am going to replace the EGR vavle. When weather gets better. Thanks for your help.
Instead of capping it off you could just remove the air pump and all of the piping associated with it, if you are not going to install a new cat. You shouldn't need to cap it off if the air check valves are still good. As for the code 32, I replaced all of my vaccum lines, egr valve and egr control solenoid, intake and tpi gaskets, and I still get a code 32. Maybe you'll have more luck with it.
Bob, I removed the cat on mine without any codes. I didnt get any codes till I blocked off my egr completely. I also had installed the air pump eliminator kit and removed the other smog stuff without any codes. Let me know if I can help.
Phew, I thought you were referring to real cats. I once followed a car up Roscoe Blvd. one morning. As it was moving, kittens were dropping out from underneath and running to the side of the road. They obviously were cold the night before and crawled up inside of the radiator. They were all OK...I stayed far enough behind to to avert the traffic while they grabbed their scences and so they could scurry. Sorry I could not resist this story....It was really looked cute to see.
