Default ? about LT4 Extreme Duty Timing set

is this a double roller chain? I remember having it for my first build but since I went with a EWP I ended up selling it.

Reason I ask is I want to know if the 96 crank position sensor reluctor wheel still fits under the 96 cover with the LT4 extreme duty chain.

Thanks

No it's not a double roller and yes it works with the '96 CPS reluctor ring

don't think I even remember details about the chain. There were some posts about issues with the wear of the metal I believe? how much Hp is it rated for? I wonder if I could have the rear part of the cam sprocket machined off to save some weight since Im running an ewp.

If you're running an EWP, you can run any SBC double roller chain.

Not if he wants to keep the CPS reluctor ring which is unique to '96 cars.

On a '95 I can run a double roller chain if I use an electric water pump? What drives the Opti-Spark?

did it on my '96...

the reluctor ring is independent of the crank gear... slips on afterward

I DO want to keep the reluctor ring. reason being is that it provides a 4x crank signal and I want that for the crank input for the gen 7 dfi ecm that i am using. I am trying to eliminate the dual sync distributor as a source for cam and crank signals for better accuracy especially since the motor will see up to 8000 rpms.

The original plan like my previous build was to use a billet double roller setup. I used that and it worked flawlessly with an ewp. From what I know, the reluctor ring will NOT fit with a double roller....

Racerx70cc if you used a double roller with the reluctor I would definitely be interested in hearing details on the exact setup. there are some people currently trying to produce a reluctor that will work with a double roller and they claim it just wont work.

I used a plain old Comp double roller and slipped the ring on afterward... worked fine for me (no DTCs, started and ran good, blah blah blah).. no rocket science or black magic required. the old K.I.S.S. principle..

As a matter of fact, it's still in the LT1 I dropped in my '85

is the LT1 running an obd 2 pcm? I'm wondering if the sensor is actually getting a signal from the reluctor etc?

I'm aware of the assembly. Had mine and others apart many a time.

Now that you mention it, I do recall Noland Smith (BlackHarleyMan) doing this same thing.

My appologies to the board for the misinformation

definitely does make me feel better. il be asking my builder to test fit it with the cloyes billet double roller we already have to see if it will fit. There is someone making cam position sensors for the timing covers for the ltx so If this works with the reluctor, I can get both signals off the timing cover and eliminate the distributor all together. If I can do that I;ll be using accels coil/plug box to have individual coils on each cyl with an accurate signal for the dfi ecu... exciting !!

Yes, and the cam's dowel pin drives the Gen II opti.
