Default Changing Wires??

How difficult is changing the spark plug wires on the '94 LT1? Should the
vehicle be on jack stands/lift? Any special "wire" tool needed? About how
long does this job take? THANKS

I went to the "search" icon, put in "change spark plug wires" and found it on page 4....look at the Pianoguy post and the Eddie and the cruisers post.

Its covered there much better than I could. Good luck.

It's not a difficult job however, It will take some time to do if correctly.
Unbolt the ASR assembly and move it out of the way. Remove the drive belt and tensioner. Unbolt the alternator and remove it. Unbolt the air conditioner and move it out of the way. You can sit it on top of the radiator (Do not disconnect the hoses )
You will need a puller to pull off the power steering pulley. Then unbolt the power steering pump and push is foreward. this will give you a clear view of the distributor. From there it's easy to remove and replace the wires and plugs . Just reverse procedure to put everything back together. Should take 3 to 4 hours.

I did this last year on my 95. What I did was move the alternator and moved the A/C compressor out of the way. I didn't disconnect the hoses, just sat the compressor to the side. When those 2 things are removed, you can see where the plugs squeeze between the engine and the bracket. I raised the front of the car and crawled underneath. You can see and grab the plugs for the drivers side underneath the car. Just mark them, pop them off the opti and pull them out of the little space between the bracket and engine one at a time. And its just the opposite when you reinstall. The wires will fit back through that little space between the engine and bracket. I even replaced mine with the wider MSD cables. And I still got them through there with little problems. The hardest part was getting the new plugs to pop onto the opti. But just lay in different postions under the car to where you can get the most muscle out of your arm to pop them back on. Its not really that hard to do. The passenger side is simple.

Default Changing Plug wires on a LT1

It is certainly not the most fun job, but it can be done in your driveway. The cap and rotor are a little more tough.
if your wires are bad, your cap and rotor are likely going soon also.
You should bite the bullet and pull the water pump, change the cap and rotor, plugs and wires all at the same time. I like using the Autolite Professional wires and XP plugs. I have them on my C5
