Default LT1 Pushrod Length

7.100 if using guide plates and non-self aligning roller rockers?

I copied this off someone's build here on the forum. He used Trick Flo hardened pushrods with TF guide plates when installing a hot cam. The part number listed is 7.100 length pushrods.

If you're changing parts around in your engine, its best to buy an adjustable pushrod and determine the correct length that way instead of hoping what worked for someone else will work for you.

It's best to know for sure what size you need for your particular build. The last thing you want is to be fighting bad valvetrain geometry.

Checking is the best way, unfortunately I need to have everything at hand when doing this swap. From the person's build where I got the part number, he mentions roller rockers needing .100 shorter pushrod. He had a checker. I just took his suggestion as correct and ordered the same pushrods as he used. Does this sound about right or should I call and switch my order to 7.200 length?

If its something you insist on doing without measuring the pushrod length I would go with stock length. You are going to have a little room to play with the adjustable rockers. I have never heard of the shorter pushrod with rr, not to say its not true. I would run it and check the swipe pattern on the valve stem to make sure they are right.

If the heads haven't been milled and or a thinner head gasket being used. Just stick to the stock length (7.200) pushrods.

i just did this on my 92 and the stock pushrods on my car came to be 7.195" but the 7.200 is soooo close that thats what i bought. the cam you want to use will have more to do with the push rod not the rocker, if you are putting in the hot cam or something you may need longer or shorter rods but in my case i just did the rocker and guide plate, and push rods with the stock cam and the 7.200 fit just fine.
