Default OBD Diagnostics Software?

I bought this cable for 1994 LT1 Corvette.

http://www.aldlcable.com/sc/details.asp?item=aldlobd2u

It also came with a CD with some software. I could not get any of them to work. Here is the list.

aldllog
aldlmon
carbytes
digimotolite
efilive
freescan
FT232R
hyperterminal
media
moates
OBD2Spy
OBDGauge
OBDLogger
pcmcom
PCMSCANDEMO
scanmaster
ScanTool
ScanXL
tunerpro
USBdrivers
winaldl
wODB

The cable is communicating with the computer. Any suggestions for some free or cheap software that can get the codes and monitor the car sensors?

I ended up sending it back. Using free software is, well, you get what you pay for. By the time I buy software and the cables, etc., it would be comparable to getting a hand held unit. Plus having a computer in the front seat is very cumbersome.

It's not as cumbersome as you would think. Computers also have the benefit of being able to record the data and play it back later which is very valuable for tuning. Some handhelds offer you this ability but for how long? I've got data logs for 30 minutes worth of driving or more. Furthermore the computer has a larger screen which allows you to see more information at once, the handhelds you typically have to scroll around.

To each their own.

I prefer TTS Datamaster and I got my cable from AKM Cables.

Well, I have several 4 cars and need ODBII also. Plus every new car requires extra money using Datamaster.

This one allows one to store alot of data and plot it on a PC plus will work on multiple cars.

I can be bought on Amazon for $400.00 with all of the accessories.
