I just pulled out the carpet on my 86 and have a huge crack running down the transmission tunnel and another just left and forward of the brake pedal. This is a big hole at least 2 or 3 inches wide and long. Suggestions wpuld be much appreciated. I am thinking typical fiberglass repair using smc epoxy base resin and fiberglass mesh, but the hole is so big I was thinking maybe thin plexiglass or sheet metal with pop rivets. Help!
Does it look like someone lifted the car using those fiberglass areas with the cracks? Do the cracks go all the way through from the inside to the underside of the car? Pictures would help.
Call Vette2Vette and see if you can get a solid floor section, big enough to do the repair. and glass it in with Lord Fusor SMC products. It may not be that hard and if you take your time, it will be as good as new.

Your on the right track there. Make sure your surfaces are extreemly clean before using any bonding products. IMO...... I would just repair the bad areas. I would'nt go cutting a piece out to replace with another piece. The sheet metal idea with rivets is probably how I would do it. Then resin over the whole thing. JMO.... Good Luck....
I just did a similar repair on my 85. The front edge of the drivers side footbox was cracked across the front edge and the panel had separated along the edge by the door. I drilled some along the edge that separated, put in some caulking and ussed small bolts the draw the panels together. The I fiberglassed the edge as well as the leading edge where I also had a hole about 2 inches wide and about 6 inches long.
