I believe I have found a set of '89 Vette heads (113 casting). I don't think my '85 manifolds/headers will work right with these heads due to the "D" shaped exhaust ports. Am I right? TIA...
I believe the early intake base has different head bolt angles but you can make an adjustment to your base.
I'm not sure about the exhaust but think it would work. Check out the part number from GM to be sure. BTW my stock headers don't realy fit my 113 D ports either.
I'm not sure it the EGR is in the same place either.
According to Jim Pace performance parts catalog the 1008813 does not have EGR passages, .100" higher exhaust ports, angle plug design, and drilled for center bolt style valve cover. I am allmost positive you would also need to modify the intake. I have also been looking into a set of these heads for my 87 L98, but it looked like there are better, at least less complicated set ups for the 86E back engines.
The heads your are talking about are based on the 8113 heads. I think an actual Corvette 8113 would still have egr, but thats not a major problem. I had planned on purchasing the late model intake as well, so there should be no troubles there. And angle plugs and center bolt valve covers are cool! :D
I might be wrong, so if anyone thinks they just won't work, lemme know! Thanks!
Everything from your '85 will bolt straight onto the 10088113 castings. The '85 exhaust manifold ports are round, so you need to carefully port them to the proper shape to utilitze the higher D-shaped port. Do not break through the manifold tubing, remove material from the mounting flange only. My '91 castings did not have the EGR port in the heads. You need centerbolt valve covers. Be sure to use proper head bolts with washers.
Let's confirm this intake question. Will the 10088113 heads match the 86e back intakes? Can you use the late model heads and match them up with later year headers, in a 85 car?
