Default Low tire pressure sensing

I looked at the Electrical supliment to the FSM and quite the ahha moment. This thing does not tie into anything else in the electronics other than power ground the two ligh bulbs and the ALDL dianostic pin. There is nothing to stop you from using an aftermarket system with cheap and readily replaceable sensors... It is going to be a rainy sunday might need todo some net surfing to see what is available...

Yea I do believe you're right. I had often thought if there was another brain box & sensors in the aftermarket I could have a real LTPWS. One that would work like the new cars where you actually see what the PSI is.

I just never got that far down on the "to do" list.

Depends on the Year. The first Year - '89 - is a stand alone and like a lot of Vette stuff, kinda of a Beta. Poorly shielded, it was prone to false alarms and with the Manufacturer absorbed or out of business shortly after it's introduction, there were few replacement parts - even under warranty. You probably could use an aftermarket assuming such is available (I haven't looked at JC Whitney catalog in ages). Otherwise, newer units have a BCM interface and use either sensors or ABS (Toyota and some of the other foreign makes use ABS to detect differences in wheel speed as a pressure problem - not that accurate but nothing has to be mounted inside the tire).

So far after some digging i have found this and am going to give them a call today just for laughs to find out more about it. i have other uses for it as well for my biz. I am curious if the data stream is accessable to send to other devices like a data logger or digital dash in a race car.. my biz LOL so if i can use it will set up a distributor account with them.. Saying that it will have to work at least to 200 mph to be useful as a part of the parts i sell.
