I have hotcam springs, and Comp cam 1.6 roller rockers#1418-16.Prior to installing in my 89, are these roller tips ok for street use or should I go for the full Comp Cam roller rockers.I plan to install a hotcam or similar in the future.
COMP CAMS Small Block Chevy MAGNUM ROLLER ROCKERS #1418-16
3/8" Rocker Stud, 1.6 Ratio
*Small Block Chevy, 1987 & Later, Self Aligning
Comp Cams Magnum Roller Rockers are the ultimate street rocker. That's because they were designed with the serious performance enthusiast in mind. They will help your engine make more power and last longer.
*
Magnum Roller Rockers are made of 8620 chromemoly steel.
*
Stronger than cast aluminum or stamped steel rockers.
*
Maximum lift because this rocker arm won't flex.
*
Super accurate ratio. You can't get maximum horsepower if the ratio is off. Magnum Roller Rockers check dead on every time.
*
The Magnum Roller Rocker can make between 15 and 30 horsepower over other rockers. Not only does the roller tip reduce friction, the Magnum Roller Rockers™ incredibly stiff design and super accurate ratios yield more effective valve lift.
I assume the slot in these rockers is longer the stock, allowing the rockers to "rock" far enough to accept .525 lift. If so, then yes these would work. The roller tip is self aligning and shouldn't fail with the low spring pressures you are going to run with the Hot Cam.
Those rockers are for 3/8" studs; in case you later upgrade the cam I suggest the CC #1305-16 1.6:1 ProMagnum for 7/16" studs non self aligning. Even with stock cam and 1/6:1 RRs, the 7/16" studs will exhibit less deflection so you will get fuller valve opening.
Of course you will then need a set of 7/16" studs, hardened guide plates and hardened push rods. All can be had from Comp Cams direct.
I thrashed them in my 12 sec engine ,no problem.
The full rollers are nice if you have the $$$ but considering the exchange rate down here at present not justifed for your use.

Sounds like the cut and paste job could use a disclaimer

I am in the process of installing all this right now. I just put my new cam in today.
