Default LT1 rebuild

So I went and bought a Caprice Trooper car with the iron head 2 bolt main LT1 to put in my C3. I'm not looking for horsepower over what a stock LT1 will do(no need to be breaking driveline stuff on the C3) so I am doing a refresh rebuild. The pistons are good and the block has been stripped down, cleaned, and painted. I have yet to find a rebuild kit that doesn't have pistons and or crank included. I'm just looking for bearing, rings, seals, gaskets, etc. The motor was in okay condition ( no smoke or noises) just high miles when I pulled it from the car. I also have a $150 gift certificate to Jegs but have been unable to verify some of the stuff I've been looking at. Where should I check for what I need? Should I go OEM from the dealer? Was thinking that might be most expensive. Any thoughts or advice would be great.

Thanks,

George

George, steer clear of the dealer unless you plan to pay through the nose.

Go the SummitRacing.com and you'll find all you need there. Also, at a minimum, you'll need to break the glaze on the cylinder walls for the new rings to seat well.

Check for any ridge at the top of each bore. If it's there, you may well need to bore the engine .030 and buy new pistons, re-balance, etc.

I'd hate to see you put it all back together, with new parts, only to be dissatified with the results of the re-build.

Cutting corners can come back to bite you in the butt.

I intend to lightly hone the cylinders to clean them up. No ridge at the top amazingly. Do you know the part numbers or brands for the stuff I need and is it available in kit form minus pistons, rods, and crank?
