Default Intake port

My intake ports got ported bigger than my head intake ports, is that going to slow me down or cause any problems?

thanks

you don't want the intake ports larger than the head's port... you lower the velocity

yes, that is bad. You actually want your head ports to be a little BIGGER than the manifold ports on the short side (maybe a 0.05" step helps with turbulence into the cylinder).

Default theories/smearies

for many years, Ferd marine 460 c.i. engines came factory fitted with the Ferd "super cobra jet" intake manifold that has ports about 1/4" larger than the cyl head ports...said to have added 20+ hp to the engine over using the "standard" intake manifold that closely matched the heads .

What heads? How much bigger? Are the heads on/off the car?
