Default Lost power

My 92 coupe acted strange tonight coming home. A pickup in front of me on the freeway was going slow in the fast lane and finally got out of the way as we started up a long hill. As he got over, he was doing about 63mph. I gave it a good dose of throttle and the car responded well and was speeding up. At about 82mph, I lost power. The engine kept running but felt like nothing was there. I pulled to the shoulder and put it in neutral and then it revved fine. I put it back in gear(automatic) and was able to get going again without any further drama. No lights came on. I had about a quarter tank of gas left, I stopped for gas right away and put 14 gallons in. The car runs strong and is a daily driver.
Any ideas? My thought is low fuel tank, going uphill, hard throttle starved the fuel pickup. Any one else have this problem? What was your fix? Thanks for any input!

Yes, the fuel pump pick up will lack fuel if below a quarter tank under heavy acceleration. It's a common problem on all C4 Vette's. Always keep at least 1/3 tank of fuel.
