Default Coolant problem

Hey, I have a 1980 Vette with an lt1 from a 96 (which is why I posted on the C4 section). The other day I parked the car and left it running while i was checking out issues with my sound system. All of a sudden i look at the hood and smoke was coming out. I had coolant coming out from the cap. I figured the cap was just loose so I took it off and retightened it. 10 min later I had the same problem. Then i figured it was the thermostat. So i took it out and tested it, it was fine. I put it back together and then it started leaking from one of the hoses. I tightened it and all of a sudden it started leaking from the lower hose. Im assuming I have too much pressure building up but Im not sure why. I have an electric water pump. Its getting power, but Im not sure if its running properly. Is their anyway to test it? Could it be something else? Thanks for your time

What is the coolant temperature? Pressure increases with increasing temperature and really goes to the moon when it boils. The waterpump cannot increase the coolant pressure because it moves the coolant, it doesn't pressurize it.

Could be possible you blew a head gasket, one way to check is remove the radiator cap and while the car is running look and see if you are getting bubbles. also pulling the plugs and looking for deposits.

Every time i started the car it has been leaking out of a different place. I decided that maybe the hoses were bad since the car has been sitting and up here in jersey the temp has been all over the place. So i took out the hoses and i realized they were fine. I did however replace the fasteners which looked bad and didn't tighten well. I started the car hoping that it wouldn't leak(not expecting as much). So for a while it didn't leak I went into the car to see if it was overheating and the gauge was in the red at 260 (in under 10 min while idling). So it is apparent that I am an having overheating problem. Any Ideas, Im still not sure if my electric water pump is working properly. Is their any way to find out? Thanks.
