I have several heim joints on the rear end of my '94 and would like to know the proper way to clean and lubricate them. Is soap and water ok to clean or do I need a de-greaser? What lubricant should I use if any?
I'm not sure about cleaning, but I've heard that a dry lubricant works best. Oil apparently will just attract dust/dirt into the fitting and cause premature wear.
I can't tell from the picture but they may have a teflon insert, ask the maker.
I emailed them several times with no reply, they are Guldstrand. Pretty bad customer service considering how expensive these pieces are and that I bought several pieces from them.

Call and talk to Craig, I talked to him several times last week. I generally don't try and email companies as I've found they aren't real good with email questions. Maybe the mail gets accidentally sorted into spam, I know on my Yahoo mail I find stuff that shouldn't be in there!
I've already been running them without covers on the street for a while so that's why I'd like to know what to clean and lube them with.
I called them for you, they are the type with the Teflon insert that doesn't require lube. Just look at the eyelet there will be a plastic looking strip in there. Putting lube on it can attract and stick on dirt. As for cleaning it, WD40? I ordered a set of front links while I was at it. Probably cost $50 to build but I'm running out of time.

Thanks, that makes things easy as far as maintenance
you bought the Banski Motorsports links correct? Did you get boots from sealsit? What size did you get? I am considering getting some of the Baski links as well.
I've been thinking about doing the Banski trailing arm kit on my street car, but that would be a pretty bad idea if boots won't work. Is there any solution for a heim-jointed DD?

You need to use a dry lubricant from day one. I use graphite.
