what exactly is suspension code FE1?

In C4 General there is a sticky that explains the codes. 
· FE1 - Base suspension
If yours feels like a Taxi, change the color and start replacing parts.

FE1 is the soft ride suspension. It really allows some nose dive under threshold braking from say 100mph+...
Even an upgrade to '90 Z51 springs and sway bars plus adjustable shocks, poly bushings for the sway bars and dog bones, and solid aluminum bushings with delrin inserts still allow some roll...

My 95 and 96 were FE1. I installed VBPs sport suspension package with 32mm front and 26mm rear sway bars and Bilstein HD shocks.
