How do I do this?
Do I need to strip the original black paint, use a primer, scuff the surface? The underside has had silicon based products used on it in the past. Do I need to use some sort of silicon remover first?
Lastly what kind of paint works best due to the temperature of the engine compartment?
I know absolutely nothing about painting  I'd appreciate any help :)
Thanks,
Dave
And use the Dx330 in between on paper towels, using one side to wipe and throw it away and another towel to dry.
Now for the painting,it depends on how bad the black paint is.Ive seen them flake off and sometimes rub off when washing.
Since you didnt specify HOW you were going to paint it and what system,im assuming you may do so with spray cans.
Trust me,spray cans will last a short time.
However if the old paint is still good, a nice scuff and few light coats of primer will be good along with the black paint of your choice.
If youre going to paint with a paint gun/compressor,its a bit more complicated.
Im learning how to paint now and have invested the money in paint guns and materials and hope to learn alot as I go as well.
If you plan to spray the car with a paint gun and real automotive paint like PPG or Dupont,SW,Glasurit, etc, come to the http://www.autobodystore.com
and go to the BBS discussion board.Post your questions there. Its an automotive paint and body site and Ive learned alot from them.
They answer every question I had posted so far.I even bought a HVLP system from the site owner and a video he sells to teach the basics of painting with a spray gun.
