Default LT4 Vacuum hose routing

Ok, I don't have the pics here with me as my shop is about 10 minutes from home. My questions are this:

There is a 1/8 to 3/16" hole on the rubber behind the MAF that something plugs into. What goes there and where does it route from (Originate)?

There are two attachment hose ends on the distributor. This is a MSD in this case, but the opti has the same two. The one that they say goes to the vacuum on the intake (Bottom of distributor reachable under car on this MSD), appears to me to come from the one with two one way check valves in it. The other hose tube on the distributor appears to go to 'Fresh Air' which I take means, it has a small hose attached to it which hangs in the open air at the other end to 'vent'.

There is a small device on the passenger side intake near the front of the motor that has a short vacuum hose on it as well as some others that appear to go to the EGR if I remember correctly. But the short vacuum hose is what concerns me. Where does it go or connect to? I'm heading to the shop now for pics and will have that shortly. Basically the car has been sitting for sometime and several people touched it, without marking things and it isn't happy now. I want to correct that asap. All help is appreciated.

Thx

Ken Black

The fresh air intake hose for the opti connects to the bellows by the MAF - there should be a little plastic elbow, one end goes into the bellows, and the other end connects to the fresh air hose.

If this is the vacuum hose your asking about, it does not connect to anything.
We had this discussion here last year, and it seems some cars have this as pictured and some don't even have that hose at all.

Hey guys, (PianoGuy, MikeC4, RollaMo-LT4), you all are each correct in what I was talking and asking about. I feel better now and at least know now what to do from where to what. MikeC4, my engine looked like that before I went thru the headaches with what I've been thru over time and it sitting in a shop for a LONG time. While I can have all this fixed tomorrow, and thx RollaMo-LT4, I was wondering what that little thing did and now I won't worry about it but I do have it blocked off right now so that will come off tomorrow too.

Currently it is running, but popping out the right side and the fuel trim shows bank two short fuel trim is having an issue and running lean. I was trying to figure out how it can run lean and not the other side too. Especially since the O2s appear to be working fine. And I mean they are way off on the Bank 2 (passenger) side. Bank 1 is just fine, but I will spend sometime this evening reading up on what could be an issue there. My thanks to all for allowing me to find what I needed to get the car going in this area. Ken

Glad to hear you're getting it sorted out. Maybe ohm your injectors to see if they're out of kilter? Good luck!

I'm piecing together a 96 and have come to this point. Where does the hose on the right hand that looks like it's going down end up? I found 1 loose hose that was rotted that looks like it goes aft through the little bay behind the wheel well but before it connects with a rigid hard plastic line which I'm guessing is fuel related.

Another question. There is another large vacuum module aft of that one that has a large port pointing aft. I don't have a hose on it either. I've look at other pictures showing that module but can't tell if there is a hose on that port or not.

I have some pics I shot before I installed my cam. The hose that goes downward runs back I believe to the charcoal canister. It's a flexible line for most of its length but connects to a hard line down in there. The vacuum module I believe you're talking about does not have anything connected to that thing that looks like a rearward facing port.

Default LT4 Vacuum hose routing

GDL2165 you posted some pictures of the passenger side vacuum hose routing [June 2015]; I'm trying to locate the part number of the 'cone' shaped part approx. 1.5 inches long that is located close the fuel lines. It has a L shaped connection one side and a straight connection on the end that connects to a hose that is routed into the engine. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Dean

I believe you're talking about the hvac vacuum check valve. You can get a Dorman branded replacement at any auto parts store.
