Default Possible big time troubles

Sorry in advance for how long this is. Past two days have been very up and down. So last night on way home from work decided to punch it getting on bypass a bit. Felt like the rpm's were revving freely but not accelerating as much as should. First thing comes to mind is trans slipping... crap. So today going to work seemed to run fine. Leave work and took two tries to turn over engine. First time idled rough for bout three seconds. Second time fine. So get home then go to leave again and wont turn over. Not clicking as if battery was dead or starter was bad but just struggling hard to run. So after few tries wont turn at all. So filled up battery and charged it cause water was low, installed back and nothin. Here's the twist. Just installed vortex rammer on my 94. There is an air hose that goes to the airbox on 94-96 and gets disconnected using the rammer however they supply you a breather filter to cap it off. My dad covered it with his finger and engine came right to life. Then started revving and idles fine but sputters when revving... as if my opti is going. So my question to all is 1) what is the air hose the gets plugged up and any of those using the vortex rammer have problems with it and 2) I've replaced my starter, alternator, opti, water pump, plugs and wires within the last 15,000 miles. I drove my car through winter as i did last year with no problems for most part. Is there anything else it could be or is the optispark really such a crappy gm design that it could be shot already? Thanks for anyone's advice.
