1996 Z51 LT1 Corvette
Long story short, I broke the upper metal heater hose connector tube that comes off the top of the water pump while attempting to change my heater hoses today, so it looks like a new water pump is on the to do list.
It appears rock auto has the best price on an ac delco replacment and shows it comes with new gaskets. Do these come with the inlet thermostat housing and a new thermostat? There picture is showing it without, but most of the other magazines show it with. Any knowledge would be appreciated. Thanks.
I don't know about Rock Auto prices on WP's, but "thepartsladi" is who I use for new AC-Delco WP's. They come complete with new T-stat, T-stat housing and gaskets. I use Rock Auto for my non-vette applications and they have never let me down.
Thank you so much guys. Saved me buying a new pump and some bloody knuckles putting it in. I'll put some some jb weld on it, tap it back in and report back. I am not a strong guy, so how I managed to (break) it has been eating at my mind.
No other problems what so ever with the water pump (its only 3 years old and has about 8k miles on it)

I had that one blow out on the racetrack. It was quite the ride
I had one, still in Vette, come out. I JB welded it back in.
This is an excellent idea. May I suggest that you use medium grit sandpaper to scuff up the part of the fitting that goes inside the WP housing. Fom the picture, it appears to be very smooth. The sandpapaer will put small grooves on this fitting allowing the JB Weld to get a better grip. If the inside hole in the WP is smooth, I would also try to sand a little bit of that area as well.
Didn't know GM went to a compression fitting - everyone I've seen is threaded and they come in a couple of lengths. Most Dealers seem to have them hanging near the Counter (next to the Coolant Sealant Tabs).
Thanks for all the help gentlemen. I did not get around to installing it today, but will hopefully get it done tomorrow evening utilizing the scruff up and jbweld approach.

For whatever reason, the LT1's WP tubes are compression fit. The tube that he is holding in the first picture is the entire tube, it has not broken off at the thread line, because there are no threads.
In the second pic, you can see(almost) that the bore where this tube inserts is smooth. I have tried removing(unscrewing) this same tube from an old LT1 WP I had lying around, and it just spins. I took off the T-stat and saw that the inside of the bore for this fitting is in fact smooth.
