The black trim piece that wraps the edge of my targa has turned loose and I would like to reglue it before it comes off completely. I want to ask what is the best adhesive to insure it wont come off again and wont cause problems with the top since the targa is made of acrylic, a material I am unfamiliar with. TIA!!
Should be just pressed on. I took mine off to repaint and just carefully hammered it back on with rubber mallet. Your talking about the piece that goes around the front and sides, right?
Yup, thats the right trim piece. It looked like it had a gummy black glue stuff on it so I was thinking it was glued. My trim is a little mis shaped so it doesnt want to stay in place. I didnt want to beat on it but I guess I will try that. Thanks for your response!
That wouldn't take much to hold in place so most any plastic/acrylic safe contact glue would be fine. Read the package is usually says what you can safely use it on.
I used 3M™ Super Weatherstrip Adhesive. You can but it at any auto parts store. Comes in a tube.
Yellow formula is for adhering all types of rubber weatherstripping to car doors and trunks. An excellent adhesive for bonding engine gaskets. Black formula is a strong, flexible, rubbery adhesive that withstands vibration and extreme temperature variations. Primarily designed for use on t-tops, moon-roofs and sun-roofs.
