Default Drilling a Hole

Hi Guys,
I am wondering if anyone has ever drilled a hole into the panel behind the seats, into the storage compartment? I'm installing an amp for my stereo system. and wanted to run the power wire through there.

Thanks in advance.

Behind the passenger seat, there's already a hole there. If there wasn't, I don't see any problem drilling one. Just be sure to put a grommet in there or something so the cables don't get eaten up.

Hey Randy, good to hear you're starting your stero upgrade, what are you installing? The hole where I routed my wires into the storage compartment was already there. The factory used it to route the wires from the head unit to the radio unit that used to be in that storage bin. Some pics would be great too, good luck!

Thanks, Dan. My system will consist of a Eclipse CD5100 Hu, a Zuki Eleets 4 channel amp driving a set of Focal 130KPS components in the front, and two 8" eD subs in the rear speaker locations. I ran the power wire though the firewall yesterday, and mounted the fuse. I am going to put the module for the Sirius adapter and the Ipod controller in the drivers side rear compartment. You saw the picture of the "pods" to mount the midbass in the front of the car(already installed), the tweeters are going to be mounted up on the dash, in an effort to "raise" the sound stage. I have already made and installed an amp rack similar to the one Jeff made for his car.
I sound deadened my car last summer, w/ Raamat and Second Skin Overkill pro.
I'll take some pictures as I go. How is your car? I heard about the fan problem, get it fixed yet? I was wondering how it sounds w/ all that power.

That sounds like a great setup... I know it will sound a lot better with the tweeters in the pillars. I just don't want my car to get broken in to and am worried about someone seeing the tweeters in the pillar. But I might end up doing it anyway lol. As of now everything is installed in the car except for the box which I'm about to paint so in a day or two I'll have pics of that. Turns out my brand new Zapco 1000.4 amp I had running for the highs had a defective rear channel so I had to send it back for repair. I listened to it for about 10 min with just the front channel and is sounded pretty good, actually better than I was expecting for not tweaking anything.

On your front pods did it cause the carpeting right over them to stick out? Mine are sticking out about an inch or two just on the rear part of the pods but I can push it back down and it doesn't hit anything... kind of weird.

Dan,
No problems on the passenger side of the car, but the drivers side does stick out in the front, which is from the power wire and the wire to the Sirius module. I am going to try to route them behind the speaker pod, and see what happens.
Perhaps your pods are a little too wide, or maybe the tweeter is hitting the cover. Or it could be that the top of the pod is hitting the SC.
Sucks about the amp, hope that works out for you. I hope to be listening to tunes by the end of the week.

I think it is the tweeter now that you mention it, it sticks out slightly more than the pod's panel. When I test fit the pods without the woofer and tweeter it was perfect, so that's probably it. I routed all the wires behind the pods , even the 2 zero gauge power/ground wires. I had to mess around with them a little to get it to fit right though. There was one spot right next to the seat belt retainer bolted to the floor that I had to bend the wires around. Also I have the wires zip tied to the black flat plastic piece next to the sill so it would be tight against it.
