No, mine threw no codes when it was removed.
You still need to deal with the vapors though. When I performed the Canisterectomy on mine, I made two loops of new line and put a roll over tip valve on it. This way the tank can vent fumes and in case of liquid coming through or a roll over, it will seal shut. I used an in-line model from a fuel cell.

either way no reprogramming, but I still zero out those tables (couple of tables, and raise min. temp. etc.) so it doeasn't try to make the purge command.
nice clinical term...I just used the original line from the tank to the front for the vent and put a filter on it....I do like the valve idea though

how do you have a 730 ecm, stock was a 165, you swapped it out?
