What kind of special tool do you use to replace those skinny little hose clamps on the mass air hoses? I have had them off before and had bloody hell getting them back on. Can't seem to find any replacements like regular hose clamps that are that thin and long enough at the same time. I'm sure it shows how in my service manual (that is missing). Anybody like Northern Tools, Sears or Harbor Freight have anything for these or is it a GM tool?
Maybe I didn't make it clear what I'm talking about. How do you get those hose clamps off and then back on the mass air sensor without loosing a pint of blood?
I think I used a regular channel lock pliers the first time. After that I replaced them with the phillips screw type clamps. You should be able to get them at most auto parts stores.
The clamp is an Oetiker clamp and I went through the same thing when I changed my MAF. I wanted to retain the original clamp and even though I did not have the right tool to remove/install I got it done somehow using some combination of tools that eludes me now. I think one was a needle-nose pliers.
Yea, I was able to get them off and back on, but only after I pinched the bojibberin crap out of finger and stabbed my self in the hand a couple of times! The only auto store replacement clamps I've been able to find so far are the bigger wide ones like you would put on radiator hoses. All of the narrow ones are all real short. I could link a few of them together, but that would look too cheezy.
