I've ordered from thepartsladi on ebay, too, and believe she has the lowest O.E.M. AC/Delco prices you'll find there.

Beware of cheap imitations!

There are Optis on ebay to be had for as little as $125.00 but they're re-manned ghetto garbage...or worse...a brick in a box from a scammer!

I also went with thepartsladi optispark. I'm a little worried now because all the packed on grease is no longer there to protect it. I drove around for several months with the water pump leaking on the stock opti and it never died. I was adding at least a gallon of coolant a week. The only reason I replaced it is because I was already in there for a cam swap.

before..

after..

The new thepartsladi opti...

Original 118k mile stock opti insides after removal...

Looks pretty good.

Hey Rick...you got your WP coupler on backwards !
(not sure it makes any difference though)

I can't believe how clean the inside of your old Opti is considering the gunk on the outside.... I guess you
were right that all that nasty goo makes for a pretty water tight seal !!!!!

That's the improved, vented Opti for '95-1996 LTx engines, right?

If you check the after pic you can see where I had the timing cover welded shut for my electric water pump.

I was also surprised at the inside. I think the people that seal the opti with sealer are definately on to something. I wish I had done that but didnt think about it until after everything was back on.

All the engine is back together now. I still have to put the radiator back in. I forgot to take a pic on Sunday. The car is an hour north from me. I work on it at my parents house where there is more room. I will post a pic on Saturday when I get back on it. I'll post a start up vid with the new cam also.

I have always suggested a good seal of "The Right Stuff" around the cap ,plug & backside screw area especially on the Gen I optis the seal at the plug is useless. The Gen II plug area is a little better but still nothing like a little insurance. Your guts looked pretty good really and yes the oil gunk did help to preserve it I am sure. That is the reason I did not do a really good clean up on the front when I re-did my intake gaskets.
