I do not know the answer to "a specific tool for use on the Opti". I do know that you can go to sears or maybe any auto parts store and find the tool that is used for plug wire pulling. They look like pliars with rubber coated jaws, and the shape of the "jaw" is like a full circle when closed. They're supposed to grip around the boot end so you can pull without ripping the wire from the boot.
I can't say how well they may help with the wires' boots at the opti. I don't have any experience with the opti system as my 90 doesn't have a distributor.:o
