Yep, for the first time I had to have it towed. Ran fine to the store and came out and nothing.
I haven't had a chance to look at it yet nor the FSM.
Heres the problem:
Turn on the key- everything has power but when you go to the start position nothing.... FP doesn't turn on nor does it crank. It seems as though the park/neutral switch isn't working.
Any thoughts? suggestions?
battery connections are good. now since i have it in the garage i do hear the FP. I physically looked at the connections on the solenoid and look ok. Haven't tested them. I did however notice that the wire for the detonation sensor had come off. Don't know if that will keep it from starting but need to get a new connector first.
I'll have to check the P/N switch next
Can you hear the starter solenoid click when you hit crank? If not, then you may have a defective clutch safety switch (gear selector sw if auto). Jump the clutch safety sw and try a crank. If you hear the starter solenoid click, then you likely have bad contacts in the starter. At the end of the starter solenoid travel, two large copper contacts are forced together to switch current to the starter motor. These contacts get blackened and pitted and then make too poor a connection to pass the 100+ amps required to operate the starter motor. If its the contacts, you can keep hitting crank position again and again and eventually the starter will crank when the banging together finally makes good connection. You can test the starter and solenoid by connecting 12v from the large wire on the starter to the starter solenoid wire.
this happened to me. the starter brushes just wore plumb out!!!
remove the starter, clean the commutator, install new brushes and just to be safe, a new solenoid and continue on your merry way.

Well got the car up in the air today and hit the starter a few times and it started right up. So thats the problem.
I was lucky getting it out, less than 30 min's, thats with the headers and everything still on.
