You are right - there is nothing in the My Corvette Photos link. I swear they uploaded last night. Does that thing actually work? I can now see from your photo (I was on my phone before) that your VBandP bar actually stays straight a touch longer than your factory bar. If I can get these pictures to stay in the album, it will be obvious why the bar I got won't work.

Well, I obviously don't understand how the "My Corvette Photos" thing works. I figured it worked like TDR, but obviously not. Let me try this:

The vbandp 1.25 tubular front swaybar and the stock gm 24mm solid front lined up end to end:

GM on top and vbandp on bottom, still lined up end to end as in the other picture. GM bushing is where it was on the car (covered in grease - stays in place) the vbandp bushing is slid as far out as it can go and still be on the straight section of swaybar. It is easy to see how the vbandp swaybar starts to curve where it should still be straight to fit under the bracket.

Caliburn I took a picture for you:

As you can see on my bars, the new bushing easily goes past where the stock one was on the stock bar. There is no part number on the bar to help with ID. It measured 43.5" end to end.

I saw your pictures and Im wondering how they would fit also. The bushings would be squeezed if you try to put them all the way to the ends and bolt them up to the stock holes unless you redrill the mounting bolts but I wouldnt recommend that. Id return them and try another set. I bought some shocks from VBP and they returned my calls and even gave me a tracking number for my shocks when i didnt even ask them. Maybe you just dealt with the wrong person there. I hope things work out for you

Aardwolf - excellent picture - thanks. I am now fairly convinced I have a bad bar. Your picture shows your VBandP bar stays straight at least as far as the GM bar contour. Mine does not, and the shape of my VBandP bar is very different from yours. I would like to talk to somebody at VBandP, but they only have two salespeople there today.

Thanks all for the sanity check. I am hoping VBandP will handle this problem and I will report back.

I would think that they will just ship you the right bar.

Since they don't have someone there to help you today, it may be worth giving Addco a call directly. addco.net 800-621-8916

Also here is their list with stock/part #

PMARTINEZ92126 - whew - what a name - The folks at VBandP have tried to be helpful when I have talked to them. I specifically talked to Steve in the shop. He was the one who gave me the info on the rear spring bolt bushings and the smartstrut brackets. They just don't seem to have an answer to the swaybar problem. I think it is because this is not a common problem, and it is hard to visualize without me sounding crazy. I am hoping the pictures will help. As far as where everyone is at and why I didn't get a call back, who knows? Fire drill maybe? And they left the salespeople to fend for themselves?

Have you driven the car with the stock bar on the front and the new solid bar on the rear? I have that same setup on my 91 and its perfect. Car will rotate around very nicely with the a blip of the pedal and I am really happy. I think putting a bigger bar on the front will make it understeer more. Depends on what you are looking for. I would at leat drive it now and see how you like.

jnaugle775 - I only have a 24mm stock bar on the front as opposed to the 26 that most 1996s got. I have enough evidence built up that I am fairly sure it would be oversteering pretty good with 24f/26r.

Well, no call from VBandP today. Just as well - the doc diagnosed me with laryngitis over the weekend and has threatened me not to talk. Guess I will try the the email route.

They know exactly what you're talking about and this is a very common problem for them. Ever since I have heard the name VB&P on this forum I have read about fitment problems with that sway bar. I think they know it is not made right and don't want to say they are selling a product with fitment issues. Oh and if you email them plan on waiting a LONG time for a response. I'm still waiting on a question I asked them over a week ago
