My 84 Vette Check Engine need help

Hello Everyone I am new to the vette forums, but I purchased a 84 vette.. Il post up pics as soon as I find my camara cable..Anyways. THe check engine light comes on somethimes. It idles normal, I set the timing to 6 BTDC, and when Im driving around, and come to a stop sign, the vette will suddenly start idling higher, and the check engine light will come on. So far I changed the O2 Sensor, and thats about it.. Any ideas what it might be? OH yea plus my friend put a snap on scanner, and Code 24 and 44 came on.. Code 24 said something about no speed sensor input, and code 44 i dont know what it is..

Code 24- fuel injection Vehicle speed sensor (VSS)
according to the FSM it says disregard if set when drive wheels are not moving.

Code 44- Fuel injection lean exhaust, its possible that a code 33 or 34 could set this code. Are you sure that 24 isn't a 34?

Code 33 map sensor signal voltage to high
Code 34 is a map sensor to low

U are rite on all the info you gave me. It says the exact same thing here now that im reading the printouts he gave me.. Code 44 is a fuel injection lean exhaust indication.. He said maybe also my IAC are bad? Hes explanation is because alot of air is going in. When it comes to sensor and parts like that I really am lost. Another thing, I have noticed when I am driving the vette, somethimes if i really step on it, it will stall and do like a backfire, well its kinda like a PssHHH sound coming from the engine and somethimes it kills the engine. Any ideas? Oh i will try to check my MAP sensor with service manual. and also check for any intake air leaks..
